Mr. Cathey and Friends

The Second Annual Crawfish Boil was held on May 30, 2009 and it was a great success.  Mr. Taylor Cathey has brought the idea with him from his home state of Louisiana.  Each year he shows us how it’s done right.  The proceeds from the boil go to benefit the Godley Band Crawfish Boil.

Also, a couple of nights before, the band held it’s annual end of the year concert.  Here is a video of the HS band performing Grand Serenade for an Awful Lot of Winds and Percussion.  It’s a log video but it will surprise you.

Jeesica Sumner and Jeff Henry

On Thursday night the Godley High School Band banquet was held at the high school.  The crowd consisted of about 100 band members, their parents and relatives, and the band directors.  Mr. Jeff Henry was the Master of Ceremonies as he led us through the memories of the past year.  Mr. Henry was assisted by the awesome duo of Mr. Taylor Cathey and Ms. Carly Simpson(soon to be Endres).  We were reminded of many firsts from this years band.  This was the first year the band scored a Sweepstakes by getting all one ratings in marching band, concert band, and sight reading.  Mr. Henry told us of the new band hall being built to house the future of the band with projected growth to 200 members in a few years.  The memories of the band trip to Florida will last a life time.  We were then treated to a slide show that was put together by Mr. Cathey.  We also got the opportunity to say farewell to the outgoing drum major Jessica Sumner, she did a great job.  Overall, it was an awesome year and we look forward to more.  Thank you to all the directors and good luck to the graduating seniors of the Godley HS Band.  Thank you for visiting JohnsonCountyEvents.com.
