Traffic signals at Hwy. 174/FM 731 will be inoperable Friday, June 19

At 2 p.m. on Wednesday, the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) notified the City of Burleson that the traffic signals at the intersection of Hwy. 174 and FM 731 will be inoperable on Friday, June 19, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.  Burleson Police officers as well as flaggers with TXDOT will be at the intersection to direct and control traffic.
Crews are working to relocate signal lines to accommodate the intersection improvements.
This TXDOT project started June 8. TXDOT’s contractor is adding dual turn lanes in all four directions to the intersection that includes two retail centers and a 14-screen movie theater. The additional turn lanes will be constructed in the existing medians which will minimize the backup and congestion in the main lanes. The Texas Department of Transportation awarded the $725,000 project to Jay Mills Contracting, Inc.

Crews will typically work Monday through Friday, approximately 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Weather permitting, the project is scheduled to be complete by Fall 2009. Construction schedules are subject to change. During construction, traffic will be reduced to one lane at times. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes. Project daily lane closures are accessible at: www.txdot.gov, KEYWORD: Road Conditions.
